Contrary to popular beliefs, Terpening did not accept the plea deal as of yet. His first trial starts Monday October 22, 2012 in Barry County. Jury selection took place today.
Once this trial is over, he still has three more trials to go through for insurance fraud, 1st degree CSC, and family court.
The State of Michigan is seeking to terminate the parental rights of both Terpening and his wife for their eight children. Five of the children are adopted and the other three are their biological children.
